Top 5 Reasons You Should Commute: It’s Worth the Drive

Every home owner, new or old, has big decisions to make as they choose their home. One of the biggest ones is considering how far you are willing to be from your work. While being five minutes away can be convenient, it will certainly limit your options and you may have to make sacrifices that ultimately lead you to be unhappy with that home. If you have ever questioned buying a home because of the proximity to your work, here are some considerations to keep in mind. Don’t let the commute stop you from buying your dream home. That drive will be absolutely worth it and we’ll tell you why below.

1. It gives you the opportunity to get to know your coworkers

Whether it’s commuting via carpool, light rail, bus, or simply driving by yourself. There is plenty of time on your morning commute to get to know your coworkers. This simple change of a morning commute can help build a community within your work environment and you can learn things about your coworkers you might not have otherwise.

2. You can breathe in the fresh air

By choosing to take the commute you are able to really appreciate those first steps outside. You can take your beverage of choice and get a breath of fresh air and just absorb your surroundings. It’s often good to be able to just take a minute to yourself before going back to the hustle and bustle of your work life. Smell the roses and start your day off on the right foot.

3. It enables you to familiarize yourself with your surroundings

The beauty of a commute is being able to see what’s going on around you. You get to watch buildings go up, new stores open, and take note of things you may have never noticed before. This commute can be what gives you the idea for your next night on the town or your next family fun night.

4. It gives you a better distinction between work and home life

Commutes are a great way to build up the barrier between your home and your job.  It gives you time to decompress on the car ride back, and can better your work-life balance. Consider putting on some music and just letting all the stress from the day wash away or just enjoy that bit of silence during the car ride. It can give you time to reflect on the events of the day and better prepare you for the rest of your week.

5. It offers a better way to pursue your dream home

One of the greatest things about commuting is that it significantly increases your radius of buying a home. There will always be that perfect distance but this can expand it and give you a better opportunity to find that house you’ve been dreaming of. This commute can help you pick the perfect home in the perfect neighborhood for you and your family.
